Remote Learning: Week Beginning Monday 1st March 2021
Thank you to everyone who has sent in photos, work or messages on Dojo – and now videos too! It really is important that we are able to stay in touch: we would, ideally, like to hear from everyone at least once a week – if there are any problems with this, please let us know.
As usual, please let me know through Class Dojo if you have any questions or need any support, I will aim to reply as soon as possible – but am still teaching so please bear with me if it is not immediate.
Suggested Timetable
It is recommended that all children complete a minimum of three hours of remote learning. Below is a suggested timetable however, we are aware that this may change to suit your home. Please adapt as you feel necessary.

This week, we are going to start our new block looking at a new text: The First Drawing. In this beautiful picture book, Caldecott Medal-winning author/illustrator Mordicai Gerstein imagines one possible way drawing was invented. The young boy that stars in this story has such a vivid imagination that he sees images everywhere – clouds, stones and smoke look like animals to him. His parents, however, don’t share his enthusiasm and wish he would be more down to earth. However, the boy cannot contain his enthusiasm and one night grabs a smoky stick and “traces” the image he sees on a cave wall. Lo and behold: the world’s first drawing.
This week, there will be no live lesson on Wednesday as I am on an all day course – however, all the instructions and resources for the day will be on the website just like on Fridays. Don’t forget to look at the work on the school website for resources and work that children can do independently if they are unable to access the online inputs. Please you make sure that you look at the resources there, as we will need some for the lessons. Thank you.

Summer Term Week 9 Home Learning
Home Learning Week Beginning Monday 15th June 2020
As before, please contact me via Class Dojo or admin email if you have any questions. Don’t forget to send through photos to go on the Class Story – it is really great to share and the children in school are enjoying seeing their friends online.
Please note the English has been split into separate tasks for Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 and continues from the booklets last week. These are Talk for Writing Booklets which follows the same structure we use in our English lessons at school. It follows a structure of learning a text, exploring the grammar and vocabulary before imitating the text and then inventing their own. Below I have indicated how this could be broken up into daily manageable chunks for this week which will complete the booklet.
This week we’d also like as many people as possible to contribute to our ‘We stand together even though we are apart’ project. We’d like all children, parents and staff to create an A4 full body self-portrait (just first names on back) in any medium with hands outstretched to the edge of the paper to link up along a wall at school. These can be emailed to school or dropped outside. We will then laminate them to create our display. We’d love for as many of you to join in as possible.

Half Term
Good afternoon Class 3; hope that you have had a lovely morning!
Well done to those who participated in the Times Tables Rock Stars competition – you have been awarded 30 Dojos each for your effort. This week, the girls won.
I just wanted to say ‘Have a lovely half term, I hope that the sun shines for you and you have a nice break’.
There is no home learning going up for this week, however, if you want some nice ideas, the wildlife trust is doing a 30 day challenge for June:
https://action.wildlifetrusts.org/page/57739/petition/1?locale=en-GB
and the scouts have some excellent ideas for fun activities for the ‘great indoors’ (in case the weather isn’t so nice)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your well-earned rest; you have been working so hard and I am proud of you all.
